Landing & calling Logan

After this.

Before Will had left New York, he'd emailed his friends to let them know he was heading back to Seattle. Along with the flight information, he'd informed those who knew about the situation with Kevin that he'd be making his move today and had asked them to think good thoughts.

Now, as the plane arrived at its gate, he felt a little foolish. It wasn't as if he was going to war or anything, and he worried that he was being overly dramatic. Still, as the seatbelt sign was turned off and the passengers were given permission to use their cellphones, Will was eager to call Logan and see if he could still make it out there. Will knew that sometimes things came up, and he was prepared for that. Smiling at Orli, Will hit Logan's speed dial number and waited.

Once Logan had received Will's flight information, he'd made arrangements to catch an earlier flight to Seattle. He didn't have Will's optimism that things were going to go smoothly and wanted to be sure he was ready if and when he might be needed.

He'd been organizing his belongings in the car he rented when his cell phone rang. Picking it up off the passenger seat, he answered, "Hello."

"Hey, Logan, it's Will," he said. "We've landed." He frowned at the fact he just blurted that out without asking how Logan was doing first. "How're you doing?"

"Hey, Will. I'm alright, thanks," Logan said into his phone. "How are you holding up? How was the flight?"

"I'm doing pretty good," Will said, nodding even though Logan couldn't see it. "And the flight was uneventful, just how I like them. What about you?"

"That's good to hear." Logan smiled, "I usually prefer a flight with a bit more speed, but mine was rather uneventful as well."

"Adrenaline junkie!" Will laughed. "But I guess I shouldn't talk... Anyway, I'm glad that you had a good flight. And I'm really glad you're here. I think part of me was thinking that something really important was going to come up and you wouldn't be able to make it."

"I'm glad to be here too." Logan shook his head, "There's very little that would have prevented me from coming out to give you a hand. Was Orli able to join you?"

Will smiled, touched by what Logan said. "I appreciate that so much, Logan," he said, "and, yes, Orli's right here. We're just waiting to get off the plane and head to the hotel. We'll hang out there until it's time for me to go see Kevin."

Logan nodded, "That's good. I'm happy to hear that he was able to make it as well. Are you still sure you want to see Kevin alone?"

"I don't know. I think so." Will bit his lip for a second. "When we began our descent, I started getting really nervous about it. But I'm afraid of him suspecting something if I don't see him alone."

Logan sighed, it was a tricky situation. Although he didn't like his friend going into the situation alone, he'd respect his decision and wishes. "Try to relax as much as possible between now and when you go. You've got your phone with you, right? Remember you're not here alone. We are just a speed-dial away and will come as soon as you call."

Will took a deep breath. "Knowing that you're going to be right there is a huge comfort, you know." He smiled. "My safety net."

Logan just hoped he'd be close enough. "With any luck, you won't need one."

"Exactly," Will nodded. "I mean, Kevin's had a couple of days to calm down and I bet you anything he'll be contrite. But I won't be swayed to stay with him or anything. I don't love him anymore. I even wrote a letter for him that I'll leave behind once I get all my stuff out. I don't want to hurt him by just disappearing, but I don't want to see his face when I say goodbye." He knew he was rambling a little, but talking things out helped him.

"Kevin definitely didn't deserve you, Will. Even after everything he's done, your still trying to spare him extra hurt." Logan looked down the road to where he could see Kevin's loft. "Are you sure you want to see him at all?"

"No, I'm not," Will admitted. "But he made his terms clear. If I'm not there today before he goes to work, he's going to do something to Wendell. If it wasn't for that, I'd just wait for him to leave."

Logan muttered, 'bastard' under his breath. Taking a breath and clearing his throat, he spoke into the phone. "How long are you planning on being there before he has to leave for work?"

"I told him my plane was getting in later than it really is." Will said, "so I'm buying a little time that way. But I'll still have to be there for a couple of hours. He won't stand for anything less, I don't think." He frowned, feeling bad that everyone had to wait for him. "I'm sorry it's going to have to take that long."

"Hey, don't be sorry. This situation isn't your doing and I'm not concerned how long it takes. My main concern is how long you're going to have to be alone with him for and what could possibly happen in that time."

"If I act like everything's normal, then it'll be okay," Will said, assuring himself as much as Logan. "First sign of trouble and my phone's coming out."

"Good! I won't be far. I can be there within a couple of minutes if needed." Wanting to reassure Will, but not give him empty comments, "It will all be over soon."

"It will," Will agreed and took a deep breath. "When it's all said and done, I'll probably laugh at myself for being worried."

"Worry makes you cautious, and there is nothing wrong with being cautious." Logan smiled into the phone, "Besides if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?"

"You make a very good point, sir," Will smiled, feeling better about everything. "Thanks again, Logan."

"No problem at all. I'll be waiting for your call."

"Okay," Will said. "See you later." He hung up just as the passengers began to make their way off the plane. Now it was just a matter of time.
