Logan's Visit

Will checked the clock. Logan had given them an ETA, and Will wanted to make sure everything was ready for his stay. He and Kevin had set up a makeshift bedroom area in the loft, sectioned off with screens, and put a futon in it. And since their own bedroom was pretty much the same set up on the opposite side of the loft, they'd agreed to put the nookie on hold.

"Babe, did you put towels in the bathroom?" Will called to Kevin while he fed Wendell.

"Doing it now," Kevin called back. "And stop looking at the clock."

"How'd you know?" Will laughed.

"I know you," was the reply. "It's an estimated time of arrival, so stop clock watching. When he gets here, we'll grab something to eat and give him a chance to rest up from the trip."

Kevin walked out of the bathroom and over to Will. "Thanks for arranging the skydiving, by the way. I'm really excited to get up there in the morning."

"Me too," Will nodded, giving Kevin a kiss on the cheek. "I was thinking that afterwards we could head out to the Fourth of July festival at the base and stay for the fireworks."

"Hey, I'm easy," Kevin smiled. "You two can do the planning and I'll go along for the ride."

"Yeah, he is," Will said, frowning at Kevin.

"Besides the aging bald part, I'm pretty close," Kevin grinned and got up from his chair to take a seat on the other side of Will. "Don't be mad," he said and gave Will a kiss. "I only bug you because I believe in you." He glanced at Logan and winked. "Hopefully, Logan'll bug you, too, so you'll be outnumbered."

Logan smiled, "I'd be more than happy to! I think you should go after something you'd enjoy doing. You have the oppertunity, it would be a shame to let it slip threw your fingers."

"Okay, I'm getting the picture, no pun intended," Will laughed. "It's good to know I've got support, though."

"Always," Kevin smiled, nudging Will with his elbow.

Will smiled at him. "Now that we have that settled, what does everyone think about food? As in eating some soon.?"

Logan smiled, "Always happy to help... or become a nag - whatever's needed."

Nodding, "Food would be good. Have anything in mind? With all the cutbacks, they've stopped serving anything on the plane. Not that the food they served was anything special but..." A shrug accompanied by a small smile, "I could definitely go for something."

"Well," Kevin said, getting to his feet, "do you want to go out or get delivery? Or I can whip up something."

"Ooh, what would you make?" Will asked.

"Depends on what our guest likes. I know you eat anything, babe," Kevin chuckled. "Logan? You look like a meat and potatoes man. How does steak sound?"

"You have me pegged well, Kevin. I'm not one to pass up a steak." He smiled, "Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Nope. Sit tight and soon I'll have a feast worthy of you two jokers." He winked at Logan and headed to the kitchen.

"Yeah, you stay here and tell me about your lady," Will grinned. "Every now and then I have to remember that the world doesn't revolve around me."

A soft smile touched his features as he blushed ever so slightly. "What can I tell ya, Will? She's pretty amazing. I can't say I've met anyone like her before, and I'm feeling pretty lucky to be honest. We ended up in New York together and are sharing a place out there. We're taking things very slowly, but that seems to be working for us."

Will smiled. "That sounds really great, Logan. I'm happy for you, man." He took a sip of his beer. "What makes her amazing? What is it about her that isn't like anyone else?"

He loved seeing people happy with their relationships.

Returning the smile, "I still haven't quite narrowed down exactly what draws me to her. Her smile, the way she teases, how she won't let me get away with anything." He shrugged, "It's everything really. She's refreshing to be with and I just can't seem to get enough."

"When we're together, I find I'm more relaxed and happy than I've been in a long time. It's hard to explain or pinpoint exactly why... Do you know what I mean?"

[OOC: Apologies in the delay. I didn't realize you updated. *face-palms then glares at LJ and/or e-mail program* And a huge congrats on the Tammy nominations. =D ]

"Yeah, I do," Will smiled, looking in the direction of the kitchen. "Well, I think you sound really happy," he smiled at Logan, "and I think she's very lucky to have you."

Logan grinned, following Will's gaze. "Yeah, I kinda figured you might." Nodding with a small smile, "That I am."

"So how have you been adjusting to everything? You've had a lot of changes over the last couple of months."

OOC: Thanks! I was quite surprised to see that and of course tickled pink! ;D

"It's been pretty great, actually," Will smiled. "I was worried about everything, but it's all working out better than I could have hoped. I'm so happy and feel so lucky."

Logan returned the smile. "That's excellent. I'm happy to hear things are falling into place for you... both of you."

"How has your Mom and Peter been doing?"

"They're great," Will said, pleased to be asked about them. "Mom's still trying to get me and Peter back together, and Peter's still trying to tell her to leave me alone."

Logan chuckled. "They haven't met Kevin yet, have they? Hopefully she'll leave it alone after she sees what a great guy he is."

Will lowered his voice. "Yeah, that's the real test. I'm trying to talk them into flying out here, but Mom's hung up on us going out there as a sign of respect. Don't ask me when my mother suddenly became old-fashioned and traditional. But we don't have the time to fly out there and I think that's making things worse."

Nodding and lowering his voice as well, "It almost sounds like she's trying to make things difficult. Doesn't want to have proof that what she wants isn't going to happen, maybe?"

"I wouldn't be surprised," Will nodded with a sigh. "I love my mom, but she's so hung up on me being with Peter. I guess I should be glad she's so accepting of my life, but..." He looked toward the kitchen where he could see Kevin whistling as he preparted their dinner. "I don't think I have a choice but to tell Kevin we really need to fly out there."

"Families can be difficult." He nodded and followed Will's gaze into the kitchen. "Perhaps just go out for a few days. Any chance Kevin would be able to get away for a long weekend?"

"He'll have to," Will sighed. "I'll find a way to make it work. Even if I could get Mom on the phone with him so she could talk to him. I don't know why she's being so difficult." He laughed softly. "Actually, I do. She's Mom, that's why."

"She loves you and just wants the best for you. Kevin seems like a great guy and very supportive; I'm sure your Mom is going to fall in love with him when she meets him."

Logan took a swallow of beer before asking, "Is Peter still single?"

"Yeah, he is, and I wish Mom would remember why," Will sighed. "Peter's longtime lover died only a few years ago. That's what made me look him up after quite a while of no communication. I don't think he's looking for anyone right now."

"Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that." Logan nodded. "That's understandable - him wanting and needing to take some time."

Pausing a moment, "Your Mom, she kinda sees Peter as family though doesn't she? She'd want the best for both of you and knowing you are both the best, it would only make sense for her. Perhaps she just needs to see that you've found someone else who's in the same class."

"If it wouldn't sound really weird, I'd say Peter and I could be brothers," Will smiled at his friend. "You may be right about the way Mom sees my relationship with him. I hadn't really thought about it that way. I know that since I've been gone, he's been her surrogate son."
