New York: Open to anyone who'd like to run into him

[ooc: Will and I didn't want to set up anything specific without finalizing with muns/pups first, so feel free to run into him here, even if you don't know him and are just in the New York area. Hell, even if you just want to run by and shout "dork!" at him, feel free.

BTW, Christine, Eve and Billie can assume he called them :-) No rush or time limit, so no worries if you're busy/not interested.]

Will was staying in a hotel in Manhattan while he was there for his adventure of meeting his new friends. He'd called everyone who'd shown interest in meeting him but with whom he hadn't had a chance to finalize any plans for meeting. His messages had been short and basically said he'd be in the lounge and bar area. If they didn't catch him there, they could reach him on his cell.

Nursing a scotch, sitting at the bar and looking at the people who came in, Will felt happy to just be there. He loved New York. If he didn't miss Kevin so much, he'd probably stay for another week. For now, though, he'd enjoy the time he had left and keep people watching.

"Newp," Will grinned, shaking his head as they waited for the elevator. "I love heights, actually. Beneath this calm, banker's exterior lies the heart of a thrillseeker."

[identity profile] lost-la-femme.livejournal.com 2006-05-23 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Although the twinkle in her eye was hidden behind the sunglasses, it was evident in her voice. "Good!" The lift doors opened and they stepped inside the lift that was express to the top ten floors and then the roof.

"Then let's go see what air traffic control will let us get away with!" she told him with a grin as the lift car accelerated upwards.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Will laughed at that, only able to guess at what Eve had in mind.

"And if we get arrested, I'm sure it would be worth it," he teased as he watched the numbers for the floors light up as they climbed.

[identity profile] lost-la-femme.livejournal.com 2006-06-04 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh they won't arrest us, probably won't be anything left to arrest after the fighters are scrambled to take us out," she told him lightly, head tilted back a little as she watched the floor indicator. There was no way to tell whether this was said for amusement or with complete conviction from her tone.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2006-06-04 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Will would never admit that the thought of that sent a rush of adrenaline through him that made him want to shove Eve against the wall of the elevator and shove his tongue down her throat. Besides, he wasn't interested in getting his ass kicked before he'd had a chance to go flying.

"Wow," he said softly. "What a way to go."

[identity profile] lost-la-femme.livejournal.com 2006-06-04 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
She threw a glance across at him and grinned. "Well it's better than lying in a hospital bed dying of some terminal disease, that's for sure!"

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2006-06-04 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
"No shit," Will laughed. "This is going to be amazing. And..." He cleared his throat. "If I get a little, um, overenthused, please, don't be offended."

[identity profile] lost-la-femme.livejournal.com 2006-06-04 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
She laughed softly as the lift slowed, approaching the roof. "Gotta love an enthusiastic passenger!" she told him as the doors slid open. Sunlight flooded the lift car, and they stepped out into the glass-enclosed rooftop waiting area. Two helicopters were sitting on the large, concrete area, their rotor blades tied down. There was another pilot, sitting in the lounge area flicking through a magazine, the picture of boredom. With a quick jerk of her head toward the door she led Will out onto the helipad and across to the blue machine sitting furtherest from the building.

"In you get, and don't touch anything," she told him, the instruction clearly not to be even questioned, let alone ignored. "And first test is to see if you can fasten your own harness. Don't worry if you can't, I'll lend a hand. You'd cause too much damage if you came loose during the flight," she added as she closed the door and proceeded to carry out her preflight checks, releasing the rotor and climbing into the left hand seat.

"How'd you go?" she asked, looking down at his lap.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Will had looked at all the controls when he climbed in, extremely mindful of her instruction not to touch anything. Not that he would have. He was already feeling the excitement and anticipation of going up, though, and knew he'd definitely need to unwind afterwards.

He set to work fastening the harness, and shrugged when he was finished.

"You may need to inspect me," he grinned.

A fleeting thought that he might be flirting with her skittered across his brain. He was never sure about these things.

She looked across, eyeing the harness and reached over. Gripping the large buckle she gave it a short tug. "Not too bad, but you forgot a bit," she told him, reaching down between his legs. Her hand went down under the seat, almost resting on his thigh as she reached down. "Don't normally worry about it but it might be an idea to fasten it," she said as she pulled the crotch strap up from where it was tucked under the seat. She twisted until she could use her other hand, one slipping in between his body and the buckle, holding it while the other pushed the clip in until it was 'snicked' firmly in place. She pulled her hand out again, patting the buckle before straightening up again and pulling her own on.

Will had to bite his cheek to stop from giggling, pretty certain that Eve wasn't aware that he was currently sensitive and in tune to every place she was touching him.

"You can never be too careful when it comes to being strapped on. In!" he quickly corrected himself.

Eve was completely aware of Will's state, and continued to go through her preflight checks, fingers running across circuit breakers and switches with practiced familiarity, controls shifted through their full reach and radios checked.

She handed him a headset. "Put this on," she told him, and picked up the curly cord, showing him the button. "And when you want to speak press this button and hold it, letting it go when you've finished speaking." She told him he'd be able to hear the air traffic controllers through it too. "Try not to speak when they're talking," she added calmly.

"Yes, ma'am," Will said with a sober nod. He wasn't sure if he'd say anything just in case he accidentally talked over someone. "I'll probably mainly be gushing about how cool this is, anyway," he grinned.

"Gushing is good," she told him, patting his leg and giving him a broad grin and a wink. She pressed the button on the controls and started speaking to air traffic control, requesting clearance and a vector over the built up areas.

While awaiting the instructions she started up, a high pitched whine and rapid clicking sounding as eyes were scanning the flight deck then the instruments. Once the rotor was settled into the steady thumping beat she shifted her scanning to the surrounding sky.

When the helicopter started up, Will felt a rush of excitement course through him, and he couldn't help laughing at the sensation.

"Wow. I'm going to be putty in your hands after this. I can already tell."

"You mean you weren't already?" she replied through the headset, finger pressing the one click to have it on intercom, then depressing it further to call the controllers and request clearance for take-off. The disembodied voice came back and told them a series of instructions, giving her headings to have them tracking out of the city environs and down the river. Adjusting a few dials and feeding in the appropriate settings Eve thought to herself for a moment how much of a different situation this would be if they were actually flying in her 'baby'.

With a final glance around the rooftop her hand moved to the collective and started to steadily twist. The beat of the blades became louder as the engine pitch increased and without further ado they lifted off, clearing the small wall around the edge of the rooftop, and turning to clear the tall buildings across the street.

OOC: Just in case anyone is silly enough to think I have a clue about anything to do with flying in, around and out of New York City, I don't! Have never been in ATC towers anywhere but here. Definitely never even been in the USA, let alone NYC, so please don't try and pick this to bits, it's too easy! It's all just make believe, believe me! 'K? Thanks!

"You were well on your way," Will said through the headset.

As he watched the roof fall away from them and the city streets appear below, he felt an exciting tightness in his stomach. It was more amazing than he could have imagined, and all they'd done so far was take off.

"Tell me you'd marry me if I were straight," he laughed.

ooc: Are you kidding me? I make up half the crap I have this boy do. LOL So, if anyone tries to take issue and point stuff out, I'll have to tell them to go pound sand. We're not writing a travel guide here. Just letting our pups have some fun with each other :-D

She hid the smirk and quickly banked the machine to the right, still climbing to meet the directions issued by the controllers. No need to draw attention in such a tightly controlled area. They tracked through the air and down toward the river.

"I don't make promises I don't know I can keep," she told him with a wink. "Not even hypothetical ones." Her eyes picked up another aircraft, a commuter chopper approaching the city, being vectored to a heliport nearby.

"Besides, I prefer to try before I buy," she added with a smirk. "How would I know you're even my type, even if you were straight?" Her thumb moved slightly, adjusting the trim with the small knob on the top of the cyclic.

"Because I'm everyone's type," Will laughed. "It's from a lifetime of conditioning to please everybody."

He watched her as she controlled the chopper, impressed with the ease she did it. It always impressed him when people did things he didn't have the first clue about and made it look as if it were second nature to them.

She threw him a look and laughed. "What if that isn't my type?" she retorted over the intercom. "I might prefer someone with a bit of an edge, who isn't worried about pleasing everyone... well except maybe the person he's with at that time? Hmm?" The nose of the machine lowered a little, the acceleration pushing them into their seats as they approached the river.

Will didn't answer her right away, grinning excitedly as he looked down at the ground. He loved feeling each movement. It may have been silly to think, but it felt like he was really flying and not just sitting as he would in a commercial airline.

"Well," he finally said, looking at her with a smile, "in that case, I might have to face the fact I'm not your type. I don't have any edges."

Re: City joyflight

[identity profile] lost-la-femme.livejournal.com 2006-06-24 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
She pressed the button and replied to the controller's instructions to track along the river, repeating the instructions, before releasing it one notch and continuing to speak, this time to Will.

"Ah, but everyone has an edge. Maybe it's been dulled by a lack of thrills and chills!" As they crossed the docks that lined the riverfront she waited for a few seconds then banked sharply again, heading along the river eastward, toward the ocean.

Will resisted the urge to throw up his arms and let out a whoop as the chopper flew. Kev would definitely have loved this.

"That's true, actually," he said, glancing at Eve before looking out the window again. "I had some edges my es-wife didn't appreciate when we were married. Maybe being edgy makes me an asshole."

[identity profile] lost-la-femme.livejournal.com 2006-06-24 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thought your ex-wife didn't like the fact your edges were being honed by someone else?" she returned giving him a sly grin. "Especially when it was someone else she couldn't compete with."
