FYI - Public post - OOC

(from my mun journal, slightly edited)

If anyone's wondering why Will flocked his LJ, it's because he's feeling a bit paranoid about Kevin. (Oops, I need to have him unfriend Kev!) I'm going to sort out some details later. But I never thought twice about his flist being part of his "reality" until another mun had her pup mention the fact that Will had unfriended him when I'm the one who was messing around with Will's flist. *g* Instead of breaking the fourth wall and telling the mun that the friending stuff had nothing to do with her pup, I just had Will go along with it (which has turned out really well). And now flocking his journal is just another part of making him a real person since his journal is real in every other way for him, and who hasn't flocked their jounal at one time or another? Uh, if that makes sense... Well, I know what I mean, anyway.

Let me add: It may sound weird, but some of you will understand when I say that Will's a real person. He's got his moods and his annoyances and his LJ is just as personal and important to him as mine is to me. I'm going to start taking it as a compliment if someone confuses his actions for mine because that means I'm making him a very real person who is realistically imperfect, stressed, etc.

Last thing - I find it really funny that there's a tendency to confuse a pup's actions with a mun's when something negative happens. No one's ever accused a mun of being nice, sweet, loving or patient because his or her pup is that way. Why the double standard? Hypothetical question, btw.

ETA: My brain's been fried from NO friggin' sleep, and I should still be making OOC and RP posts public. It's only Will's journal entries/musings/memes (anything he'd be afraid for Kevin to see) that have to be locked in order to be true to his current situation. Got it? Good, because I don't know how to make it clearer. :-) This announcement will be on all the entries I'm unlocking so I don't get any "I thought his LJ was locked" griping.

Of course he's a real person. Face it dear, you and I are just the typists for these boys, we don't control one single they do. I never intended Legolas to interact in anything but meta play, but Pointy Ears had other ideas and I just get to go along for the ride.

By the way, you needn't worry about this mun going off her nut because of something that happen in RP. I've been doing RPG in one form or another for almost 20 years (Shhhh, don't tell anybody I admitted to being an old fart.). RP play and real life have always been completely separate to me. And in case I haven't said it before, I absolutely adore Will!

:-) I love going along for the ride!

I just thought about it, and I've been RPing for about that long, too. I started it when I was in middle school and had no idea what it was called (my friend and I just called it "the game"), but that's what it was. Hee! We never had any RL drama in relation to our characters, so I always appreciate when I can play with someone who understands how it's supposed to work. Everyone Will is friends with is being controlled by someone who also understands that. Will thinks Legolas is great, btw, and he's so happy he said hi. He's so lucky to have so many wonderful people in his life :-)

I've met very few that don't understand the difference, but I have run into a few who don't realize that RP is not like writing fiction and want to plot every detail.

Elf boy is just so happy to have met Will and Orli, he swears he feels he's known them before.

Re: OOC

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes... *g* The best part of RP is the spontaneous improv-like feel to it! Just start riffing and see what happens :-) I tend to freeze up if something's supposed to be plotted out because I already know where it's going to go and that's kind of boring.

Will feels that way, too. He feels the same way about Orli.

Re: OOC

[identity profile] woodlandprince.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
The most I go with is a premise or plot hook, more than that and the spontanaity is gone.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
That's it exactly.

[identity profile] aimlessbeck.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
I think flocking the journal makes perfect sense. *nods* I've often thought about doing the same to Michael's, because he's mostly a very private person, but I never get around to it, lol.

And, okay: I accuse you of being nice, sweet, loving AND patient. ;) I know you actually ARE this way, though, not just 'accusing' you of it. ♥

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
LOL!! *blush and hugs* Thanks, hon. You're such a sweetie!

And I'm so happy it makes sense. For all I know it'll last a week or forever, but whatever happens to his journal is his decision :-D

[identity profile] aimlessbeck.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
Aww! *g* Just tellin' the truth, babe. *hugs!*

:D

[identity profile] and-you-love-me.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it. :) Um, although Jackie personally thinks Will is being stupid and has just "sort of" said that in her new post. (Sorry!)

Emma understands, though.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL I had to go look! See, that's IC for her to do (and people do it IRL all the time when people they know flock their LJs *g*) and it made me giggle. And she commented on Cordy being kidnapped, so there's no way Will could be upset about anything she said. See? This stuff is fun!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2007-01-18 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally understand this. After all look who God gave me when he was handing out muses. LMAO. I am ignoring your Hypothetical question. I know I've ranted about it somewhere.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, hon. LOL If you find your rant, send me the link!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2007-01-19 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh there are a couple. I'm almost due to write another one very soon.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Then I'll look out for that one!

I agree with everyone, but especially Legolas' mun. We muns are at the whim, not to mention beck and call of our lovely muses. Mark was just going to be prompt only, ha! With a little light meta, ha again!

As for the hypothetical question...all I can say is WORD.

Oh, and I really need to get an OOC icon for Mark. :D

Re: OOC

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
LOL I think I'll pass out the day any of my pups do what I make them do. The best laid plans, etc.

*eg* And make sure your ooc is something that'll embarrass your pup...

Re: OOC

[identity profile] neidr-melltith.livejournal.com 2007-01-20 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
Tell me about it LOL. But they can be manipulated, well some of them, if you distract them with something bright and shiny. *g*

Yeah, I'm looking...trouble is, I'm discovering he's pretty hard to embarrass!

Re: OOC

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-20 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* Bright and shiny can be effective!

LOL That can be a good thing! Leads to less whining.

[identity profile] lt-wes-janson.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
*snorts* You mean people actually think we can control these guys just because they talk through us? Obviously they don't understand the strength of personality involved.

((hugs)) Will does what he does, and trust me when I say I'm well aware of the fact that it had nothing to do with you. We might be able to give you some clues into what their thinking, but that doesn't mean we can control it.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, thanks, hon. *hugs* If it wasn't for stupid Kevin poopyhead, Will wouldn't have given the flocking a second thought.

[identity profile] lt-wes-janson.livejournal.com 2007-01-20 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
My pup still thinks that he needs to be put away permanently.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, but Will's... Will's a pussy, basically.

love your icon! Will's been nagging me to make him into an M&M since he saw an advert.

[identity profile] lt-wes-janson.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's fun! Although Wes says his hair isn't that big. ;)

And that may be so, but he has friends who aren't.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
LOL I'm so happy I could give Will stubble!!

He's very lucky to have the friends he does!!

[identity profile] guitaraway.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally get what you mean, I just got confused before and Sam is still angry at me for that. I think you are one of the smartest people I've talked to around here and the pup and I both love Will. Sam's sort of worried about him right now but he worries too much anyway. He considers Will a big brother and role model of sorts.

But yeah, I completely understand what you mean about Will being his own person. If people confuse RL with RP it becomes bad which is why I never operate that way and try my best to play with nice people like yourself who also operate that way.

I'm sorry if this sounded creepy!

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
It didn't sound creepy at all, and it's really sweet of Sam to think about Will that way. (Tell him to stop being angry at you!!) Will thinks Sam's a sweetheart and likes talking to him :-)

I still get paranoid about the RL/RP thing because I had some bad experiences when I first got into TM and managed to find the one group who apparently didn't understand. But a new pup and new friends have made a world of difference!

[identity profile] guitaraway.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I've had some people who get way too intense for me and I've just had to take a step back. Its a fun-time activity, not a stress time activity.

Also, Sam is trying to convince me to get him a paid account. I don't even have one for my personal journal, silly pup!

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL I've spent more money on my pups than I have myself in LJ! Of course, now I'll have to cut back on some stuff, but they really are very insistent.

[identity profile] guitaraway.livejournal.com 2007-01-20 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
They are! Its too bad they don't come with a credit card of their own! I am doing some RP changes like taking Joe out of RP and I'm going to give in and give blondie here his own paid account. He wins, god bless him.

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-20 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
LOL Yet another pup gets his way!! He's such a cutie.

[identity profile] guitaraway.livejournal.com 2007-01-20 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
He is! And he's laughing wickedly in my head because he played me and got what he wanted!

[identity profile] logan-maxwell.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
*hugs* It does make sense and doesn't sound weird at all. Will is a person in his own rights and him flocking his LJ fits him completely. Before Logan, I never would have believed that a fictional character can have so much of a life of their own, through him however, I've seen the light! ;P

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
:-D They really take over, don't they? I love it! Except when they do things that get ME in trouble. *g*

[identity profile] logan-maxwell.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
That they do... Especially when they fall in love! Some days I tell ya!!! *g* If there was a way I could ship him to Heather!mun for a few days... lol

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
LOL!! I've had Will's dreams about Orlando. *headdesk*

H is totally real and we have huge arguments ...! Sometimes in the supermarket. atlantis_flyboy's mun says the same thing. I had to persuade H to lock his LJ much against his will - he wants to meet the world. But one of his friends (he plays on Yahoo as well) decided to edit his memoirs with a view to publishing and publishers don't like things to have been 'previously published'. Fortunately, the thought of being in print (maybe, one day) appealed so strongly to his vanity that he let me lock the journal! He has had huge rows with other 'muses' - mostly ones met through TM - maybe it's so big and such a melting pot that there are all sorts of different groups. It's really hard to tell at first - you can't exactly issue a questionnaire, even once you've worked out the questions that should be asked! More to the point, some of his friends have had horrendous experiences - makes you wonder what world the muns inhabit! Incidentally, I wouldn't have noticed that Will's journal was f'locked if you hadn't mentioned it ...
BTW, it's currently so cold here that he's hibernating - assuming he got back OK from the party ...And Yarrow is still badgering me about Legolas, when he's awake. A muse who uses another muse's LJ is a problem - I can see having to give him his own!
Sorry this comment appeared and disappeared and reappeared rapidly - I managed to 'bold' the whole lot, not just the OOC heading. :)

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-27 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
:-) It may be easier for Yarrow to tap Legolas on the shoulder and introduce himself the way Mac and Ray did. And I think I lost the thread. I'll look for it after I've fixed some stuff on my comp.

[identity profile] harlequin21.livejournal.com 2007-01-27 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)

I've succumbed and given Y his own LJ - purely for rp. It's too complicated letting him use H's! So I shall take your advice and let him approach Legolas - I couldn't see how to do it with all the attendant explanations of whose journal was which, before! But he has friended Will - otherwise he can't (presumably) gain separate admission to the party, so if Will could friend him back?
Incidentally, I have a gorgeous birthday card for Orlando - an e-card with sunflowers. Whose email should I send it to - do you check the lj one? And would it be better to go direct to Orlando or via Will?
These muses make life complicated!

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-30 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry for the delay. :-)

If you have a card for Orli, you could send it directly to Orli's LJ addy. It should get forwarded to OrliMun.

[identity profile] harlequin21.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Orli doesn't have an email addy in his profile so I've sent the card to you,Will, and I assume you can see he gets it!

[identity profile] ex-will-port106.livejournal.com 2007-01-31 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
His LJ addy would be orlandomuse@livejournal.com

But he got it and loved it. :-)
