100moods: Sick
Title: Under the Weather
Prompt: 089. Sick
Word Count: 770
Rating: G
Notes: Takes place in 2000
Summary: Talia has to deal with a sick Will.
"Oh no."
Will sniffed and wiped his nose with the back of his hand. "What?"
"You really look like shit."
"I do? Sorry." Sighing, Will walked past his wife to take a seat at the kitchen table.
"And you're not dressed."
Will looked down at his robe and pajamas and slowly nodded. "You're right."
"But we have to leave for dinner with the Andersons in an hour. You're not going to stay in your pajamas, are you?"
"Sweetie, I feel worse than I look," Will sniffed. "I was kind of hoping I could go back to bed as soon as my darling wife takes pity on me and makes me a hot toddy." He smiled hopefully at Talia before a sneezing fit took over.
"Jesus," Talia frowned, snatching a paper towel off the roll and shoving it at Will when he started to wipe his nose on the sleeve of his robe. "Don't be disgusting."
"I'm sorry," he said softly, taking the paper towel and blowing his nose into it.
"Can't you take some cold medicine or something? We've been planning this dinner for months. The Clarks will be there. So will the Thompsons and the Stones."
Will squeezed his eyes shut when his head started pounding. "Honey, can't you go and just give my apologies? I'm sure they'll understand."
"Will, I can't go over there by myself," Talia snapped. "This is a couples' dinner. That means I have to be part of a couple. I can't believe you're doing this to me."
"Honey, I'm not--"
"You should have been more careful." Talia's tone was scolding. "I never get sick because I constantly disinfect everything. And, honestly, I think I just have a little more consideration than you do."
"But I'll be exposing them all to my germs if I go," Will said.
"Nice try, but you're probably not contagious anymore, Will." Talia sighed. "But it's fine. My first real dinner party with my friends in lord knows how long and I can't go because my husband thinks a few sniffles are enough to make him cancel."
Feeling a little lightheaded, Will put his head down on the table and closed his eyes. "Okay, sweetie," he said softly. "Just give me a minute and I'll go get ready."
Talia smiled and walked over to him, stopping just short of leaning down to kiss him. Instead, she kissed her hand and touched it to his hair. "Thank you, darling. I'll go get your suit ready."
"Thanks," Will murmured, trying to fight off the sleep that was pulling him under. He wasn't sure how much time had passed, but he knew he was in trouble when Talia shook him awake.
"Jesus, Will, I ask you for one thing and you can't even do that!" Talia slammed some non-drowsy cold tablets down on the table, making him wince. "Just take those and go get dressed!"
Will nodded, picking up the pills and swallowing them dry. "I'm sorry. I'm so tired..." He got to his feet, a little unsteady on them, but started walking towards the stairs.
"God, Will, stop being such a baby."
His head may have been fuzzy, but those words came through loud and clear, making him stop and slowly turn around to look at Talia. "Talia..." A wave of dizziness washed over him suddenly, and he grasped at the kitchen doorframe to steady himself. He wanted to tell her to shut up and stop being such a bitch to him, but before he could, everything started to go dark and he passed out.

When Will woke up, the first thing he saw was Talia's worried face looking down at him. He didn't remember the trip to the hospital - he barely remembered his conversation with Talia before he hit the floor.
"What happened?" he asked. The words came out in a croak.
"Sweetheart, I'm so sorry," Talia said, touching her hand to Will's face. "You've got a mild case of the flu, but the doctor said you're suffering from a little exhaustion, too. You've been working so hard, and I didn't think..."
"S'okay," Will whispered, closing his eyes again. He just wanted to sleep. "The dinner party..."
"Who cares about some stupid dinner party?" Talia grasped his hand. "Honey, I'm just happy you're all right. I shouldn't have been so selfish." She leaned down and kissed his forehead, holding tightly to his hand. "Just get some sleep and get better so I can take you home."
"M'kay..." Already drifting off, Will was just glad he'd finally be able to get some rest without being nagged by his wife.
